Reader's Theatre Auditions

Soundstage Productions is a not-for-profit professional company in
the St. Louis area dedicated to honoring the script as the primary
framework of dramatic presentation through the art form of reader’s
theatre. Along with full productions, we provide playwrights with
opportunities for readings and fulfill educational and industrial
performance needs with a special commitment to diversity in casting
and staffing.

“Quake”

Audition Date & Time: Sunday, June 4th from 1-5

Location: HH Studio
HH Studio is located at 2500 Sutton Ave in Maplewood, two blocks
north of Manchester and two blocks east of Big Bend. Parking is
available on the street or in the lot across the street at Jr. High
Park.

Audition Requirements:
1) Audition appointments are 20 minutes each.
2) Cold readings from the script will be provided for auditions.
3) Please bring a resume and a headshot or current photo unless you
have already auditioned for us.
4) All parts are stipend.

Show Synopsis:
“Quake” by Melanie Marnich

Lucy is on the “move,” a word that becomes her mantra in an
idealistic search for the “big love” of her life. She becomes
involved in a succession of surreal, contorted affairs with men and
an infatuation with That Woman, a notorious female astro-physicist
turned
serial killer, hungering for her power and velocity. Trying to find
her pace, moving with the world, Lucy longs to know the intensity of
a human connection.

Available Roles:
3 Women
Lucy: impressionable young woman searching for the “big love” in her
life afraid to slow down, propelled by a voice within her.

That Woman: a quasi-symbolic figure – who is an astrophysicist-turned-
serial killer with brilliant control and power.

Clerk, Flight Attendant, Psychiatrist: stereotypical characters that
boarderon being absurd.

3 Men
Each plays several different stereotypical men that come into Lucy’s
life for better and worse.

Rehearsals and Show Dates:
Start Sept. 17th Sunday-Thursday with show dates Oct. 5, 6, 7 and
12, 13, 14.
