Actors needed
I am writing with an opportunity for four paying acting gigs for a short 15-20 minute script I have written and will be directing to be staged at a gala dinner at the Ritz Carlton on Wednesday, November 1, in the evening.
I know the timeframe seems short, but this is very doable because of the way that the script is written. It mainly consists of a series of phone calls between telephone hotline workers and several individuals who are in crisis and contemplating suicide.
While the play has specifically been commissioned for the evening of this event, there is a possibility for occasional performances yet to be determined in the future that could take place in such venues as the Missouri Athletic
Club, Lions’ Club, etc.
I am looking at a four member cast. One of the roles has already been cast. Here is what is needed:
-a white woman who reads onstage between mid-30’s to early 50’s who can play a very compassionate crisis line worker
-a white male who reads onstage as late-40’s to late-50’s. The role is to depict an upper-level management executive who lives in West County and is feeling suicidal because his wife has left him
-a male actor who can read onstage as a college freshman. The role is for a young gay man who has come out to his family, been rejected, and is now feeling suicidal.
Please only respond if you have acting experience, are interested in the project, and available to perform on Wednesday, November 1 (your availability to do other possible future performances is not mandatory as these are only in the discussion phases at this point). If you are interested, email me at _jlipkin@aol.com_ (mailto:jlipkin@aol.com) and cc my assistant Sarah Shimchick _shimchick-uppityco@sbcglobal.net_ (mailto:shimchick-uppityco@sbcglobal.net) offline with your contact information and your daytime and evening availability, beginning Friday, October 13. Also, please embed your resume or some description of your acting experience.
It may also be possible for people to see the script by email once they have voiced their interest so they can see what is involved. We will piece together a rehearsal schedule based on people’s availability. Rehearsals will take place in the Central West End and, given the timeframe, may frequently focus on two-person scenes. I would like to hear back regarding all interest by Monday, October 9, at the latest.
Thanks much for your interest.
All best,
Joan Lipkin
