Auditions for RANDOM ACTS THEATRE

Random Acts Theatre Company (currently of St. Louis) will be holding
auditions the morning of Saturday, May 5th for the role of "Amy" in a
production Stephen Belber's award-winning play 'Tape' slated for
performance in late August with rehearsals to begin for cast
performer in late July.

Amy: A twenty-eight year-old assistant district attorney practicing
in Lansing, Michigan. Formerly the high school girlfriend of Vince
(now ostensibly a volunteer firefighter in Los Angeles who in fact
uses that as a veneer for his activities as a drug-dealer) and friend
to Jon (now a low-budget film director whose first film is screening
at the Lansing Film Festival and with whom she slept the day of
graduation shortly after ending her relationship with Vince).

Premise: Orchestrated by Vince, the three converge in the Motel 8 at
which Vince is staying for a tenuous reunion that results in
unexpected examinations of self and the ambiguity of personal
experience. The incident that occurred the night of the three one-time
inseparable friend's graduation and to what extent it could have been
construed as a forceful act, to what extent it could have been rape,
is, on the surface, the focus of the play, while amidst the semantics
and long-harbored resentments, the play distills into more of an
examination of friendship, loyalties, ones capacity to develop as an
individual and at what price may redemption be achieved.

Performers will be considered irrespective of "race".

Auditions will be conducted in the form of two dry-read sides and
likely last little more than five minutes per audition. If preferring
to prepare, these sides will be made available at auditioner's
request via email.

Casting will be based on the single audition alone. Auditions for the
part of "Amy" will begin at 9:00 am and continue through 1:00 pm, May
the Fifth at St. Louis' Third Baptist Church located at 620 N Grand
Blvd. near the Fox Theatre in downtown St. Louis.

Please contact Random Acts should there be a particular time within
this window that would best suit individual schedules accommodations
will be made where able. Likewise, if the date conflicts altogether
with any auditioning performer's availability and there remains a
desire to audition, Random Acts' will facilitate a select number of
private auditions, Performers should otherwise anticipate auditioning
in order of arrival, which will vary depending on the number
auditioning.
