Opera Auditions

Midwest Lyric Opera is holding auditions for upcoming productions of:  Amahl and the Night Visitors, to be performed January 5 & 6, 2008; and a spring production to be determined, between Mozart's Abduction from the Seraglio, and Donizetti's Don Pasquale, to be performed in mid-April (venues and dates are being finalized at present).  Amahl is being produced by Peggy Eggers; the spring production is being produced by Paul Blecha.

Audition dates and times are:

Sunday, November 4, 2008 @ 2:00 pm
Sunday, November 11, 2008 @ 2:00 pm
or by appointment

Auditions will be held at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 9907 Sappington Road, Sappington, MO 63128.  No union affiliation required; no pay at this time, but funding is being sought for potential artist remuneration.  We are looking for the following roles:

For Amahl and the Night Visitors:

Amahl:  boy soprano, preferably < 14 years of age
Mother:  mezzo soprano or soprano
Kaspar:  tenor
Melchior:  baritone
Balthazar:  bass-baritone or bass
Chorus:  all voice types

For Don Pasquale:
Pasquale:  Lyric or bass-baritone
Ernesto:  Light lyric tenor
Norina:  Lyric coloratura soprano
Malatesta:  Lyric baritone or buffo tenor
Notary:  multiple voice types
Chorus:  All voice types

For Abduction from the Seraglio:
Belmonte:  Light lyric or lyric tenor
Konstanze:  Coloratura soprano
Pedrillo:  Light lyric or character tenor
Blonde:  Light lyric coloratura soprano
Osmin:  Bass or bass-baritone with confident low D
Selim:  Character actor, non-singing role
Chorus:  All voice types

The April production will be cast and finalized dependent upon available voices; some roles may be pre-cast.
