Youth Media Production Instructor
Function Statement: KDHX instructors are working media artists who use the power of digital production to help young people fashion their own multi-media messages. Through music, video and computer technology, young people can create messages that bridge cultural differences and create change in their communities and in their own lives. The KDHX Youth Video Production Instructor teaches basic video production classes focusing on story telling and media literacy to students ranging from middle school to high school age. The rate for this position is $20 per hour.
Location: KDHX TV Station, 625 N. Euclid, Suite 100 (@ Delmar, in CWE) or school/organization where program is to take place.
Tasks Performed:
Research, prepare and set up for classes.
Teach video production, shot structure, audio, blogging/iWeb and media literacy.
Schedule and manage equipment.
Assist and supervise students with their projects.
Follow up on administrative duties.
Support youth with the creation of the final project.
Prepare and set up the final screening.
Time Commitment: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. everyday for 2 weeks. Two different camps will be held during the summer in the month of July and August. Specific dates are to be confirmed.
Qualifications: Video production, project management and previous experience teaching youth programs. Proficiency with iMovie 08, Garage Band and iDVD are required and an understanding of iWeb and Final Cut Pro/Express is a plus. Knowledge of studio production equipment and a desire to work with youth are imperative, communication skills and attention to details required.
