Audition for new play at the History Theatre

The History Theater at St. Charles Community College will hold non-equity auditions for
Isaac and Harry, a new play written and directed by Gil Nussbaum. The stage manager is Ken Parker. The play is about segregation in the military and the desegregation of the United States Armed Forces, by presidential executive order, on July 26,1948. The title roles are Sergeant Isaac Woodard, a highly decorated "Negro" soldier under investigation by an army board of inquiry on a segregated base in the South, and Harry Truman, thirty-third President of the United States, who is grappling with the question of desegregation of the military. The play has ten roles, all male. The role of Isaac Woodard shall be played by an African-American actor. Running time for Isaac and Harry is 65 minutes. There will be a fifteen minute intermission about halfway through the play.

Auditions will be held on Friday, July 11 from 7-10 pm in the Performing Arts Center at St. Louis Community College at Forest Park, and also, on Saturday and Sunday, July 12 and 13  from 1 - 4 pm in the main auditorium of the Social Sciences Building on the campus of St. Charles Community College in St. Peters, MO. Auditions will consist of "cool" readings from the script (actors will have a few minutes to prepare for their readings in the lobby outside the auditorium)

There will be five performances of the play: Sept. 5 at 6 pm, Sept. 6 at 8 pm, Sept. 7 at
2 pm, Sept. 9 at 5 pm and Sept. 10 at 10 am (school matinee). It is anticipated that there will be at least 20 rehearsals over a six week period. Rehearsal dates and times will be set after the cast is selected. Please bring a list of possible schedule conflicts with you.

To help with the high cost of gasoline, a modest payment will be made to all actors in the cast.
