Theater Operations Manager
Kranzberg Arts Center

Background:
Grand Center, Inc., is the operator of two new performance venues in the Kranzberg Arts Center in the Big Brothers Big Sisters building located on the corner of Grand & Olive in St. Louis’ Arts & Entertainment district.

Kranzberg Arts Center Performance Spaces:
The two new spaces are a flexible arrangement “Black Box” theatre space seating up to 110 patrons and an 80 seat flexible “Studio” performance space. Both venues have audio and stage lighting control systems as well as a moveable seating system in the Black Box and tables & chairs in the Studio.

General Job Description:
Function as the primary interface between artists, producers and theater organizations who have rented the performance spaces to insure the operational
readiness and security of the venues in advance of and during performances.

General Background of Position:
The Theatre Operations Manager should have a strong interest and background in theater, good communications skills, some knowledge of computer programs, ability to lift up to fifty pounds and be able to work a flexible schedule. Evenings and weekends are required.

Specific Responsibilities:
Ensure the operating condition of the light and sound equipment,
Monitor the inventory of equipment before and after each client,
Have a working knowledge of the light and sound equipment to instruct and assist clients in both the Black Box and Studio in the appropriate usage,
Have a working knowledge of the portable seating equipment to instruct and assist theater companies in the appropriate usage for specific seat configurations,
Control the lift mechanism for the portable seat equipment between the storage space and the theater space,
Set up/tear down specific performance floor plans in the Studio space as requested by the client,
Coordinate set up/tear down with facility caterer,
Operation and monitoring of the card swipe security system,
Operation of the exterior reader board,
Monitor the HVAC systems,
Ensure the venues are secure at the close of each performance.

Theater operations at the Grandel Theater
Coordination of Strauss Park events
Grand Center arts events & festivals

Reports To:
Grand Center’s Production Manager/Arts Programs

Additional Information:
Training on light, sound, reader board and security equipment will be provided as necessary.
