Auditions for CHARLEY'S AUNT
St. Charles Community College's Center Stage Theatre is holding open auditions for the upcoming production of the Victorian comedy "Charley's Aunt."
The popular comedy of errors and disguise centers around Jack and Charley, undergraduate students at Oxford University. The boys invite their girlfriends to lunch - properly chaperoned, of course, by Charley's wealthy aunt from Brazil.
When Charley's aunt cancels at the last minute, the boys panic, and in their haste, convince their friend to play the part of the "aunt." The masquerade sails smoothly until the real aunt shows up, resulting in hilarious confusion for all involved.
Director Debbie Phillips will hold open auditions at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, and at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20. Callback auditions will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21. Center Stage Theatre invites SCC students and community residents to audition.
"Charley's Aunt" will be performed in the theater of the Fine Arts Building at SCC at 8 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday, March 2-7, and 2 p.m. Sunday, March 8. There will also be a matinee for high school students performed at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 5.
