Auditions for BLACK ELK SPEAKS

Dana College of Blair, Nebraska - Announces -Non Equity Auditions for
the dramatic production of Black Elk Speaks, directed by Hal Berry

Auditions will take place: Tuesday, April 7 at 6:30-9PM in
Room T204 in the Theatre Building of
Saint Louis Community College – Forrest Park
5600 Oakland Avenue
St. Louis, MO 63110.

Practice: Begins Friday, June 5th with read through at Dana College.

*Come and work with a highly accredited Creative Team from directors
to designers, choreographers, native American diction coaches as well
as set and crew.

It is a pleasure to announce that Mr. Mike Lara will reprise the role
of Black Elk for the Dana College production. Mr. Lara, a descendent
of the Mescalero Band of the Apache Nation, a graduate of Lindenwood
University in acting, will reprise the role he performed in 2008.

Those who are cast will have available to them, at no cost, a private
or semi-private room in one of Dana Colleges new beautiful residence
suite dormitories on campus and one free meal, lunch, each day.

The cast will consist of:

Lead Roles:
Hoksila (Actor, any age, who can play a male ninteen)

Special Roles:
Crazy Horse ( Actor, under 40, should be athletic build)
Custer ( Actor, under 40, should also be athletic)
Minimum of 4 female dancers
Minimum of 4 Male dancers
6-10 Female Chorus - Native women and singers
Drummers - playing Native males
Drummers - playing European - either gender

Ensemble Roles:
(Each person in the cast will play more than one part - actors of all
ages, genders or ethnic background)

Male roles:
(Late high school, college to adult) Roles to cover 55 characters.
* Please note there will be some male childrens parts available

Female Roles:
22 Characters to be played

Rehearsals will begin Friday, June 5th at Dana College in Blair,
Nebraska.


Performances:
Wednesday, July 15th – Saturday, July 18th at 8:00PM and
Saturday, July 18th – Sunday, July 19th at 2:00PM.

Join the ensemble of actors from many diverse cultures and
geographical locations who are dedicated to bringing this historical
and spiritual work to the stage. Become a part of the Dana Summer of
2009.
