Casting for Independent Feature Film
Be part of an exciting independent feature film to be produced in beautiful Chicago and surrounding suburbs this summer!
Feature Film plot summary:
Set in a small town where, for a day, all of the dogs man¹s best friends...become the enemy. The script is a smart disaster film with action and thrills from start to finish. It¹s a film that hasn¹t been seen for many years borrowing its tone from Steven Spielberg¹s classic JURASSIC PARK. The script was written by an accomplished group of writers-actors-filmmakers who work under the name of Broken Lizard during their First Look deal with Warner Bros. Studios.
Kevin Cooper, the director, is an award-winning filmmaker with many years in both the studio system and the indie world having worked on SECONDHAND LIONS, FIGHT CLUB, LAKE PLACID, THIN RED LINE and ARMAGEDDON
Shooting Dates:
July 15-August 6th, 2009
Location:
Chicago Suburbs
We are currently casting for the following:
PATRICK 35 years old a strong Chicago suburban firefighter. Father of ten-year-old Tony and husband to wife LOIS. Born on the South Side of Chicago, he learned to be tough and have fun at an early age in the city before his parents moved out to the Œburbs when he was ten. A squared-jawed kind of guy with a penchant for pushing fun further than he should Patrick works hard at firefighting and plays hard at fun,. Easy-going, kind of guy with a conscious when it comes to fighting fires, he¹s the guy you want "first-in."
TONY is a typical prepubescent kid from suburban Chicago. Loves playing driving videogames, eating sweets in the morning and having fun with his Siberian Husky Moose. Has a fear of heights. Doesn¹t like to be called a "Momma¹s boy." Loves his dad and loves to have fun but deep-down probably is a bit of a Momma¹s boy which is evident in his anger.
CYNTHIA is a quintessential caring schoolteacher. She takes care of the police and firefighter children during training exercises or for town-wide emergency situations. She¹s a tough-teacher, but takes her care-giving job seriously.
DEXTER 40-50 year old Southern hunter. In spite of moving to the suburbs of Chicago, he still takes every opportunity he can to drink beers and take his four German Short-haired Pointers bird hunting. Not averse to poaching, Dexter enjoys the thrill of the hunt (until he¹s terrified to be hunted himself!).
JOEY ROMEO, - 13-year-old boy, is quite simply a punk. He likes to tease and Tony is his target. Joey¹s all bully on the outside, but when his manhood is tested, he crumbles.
SHAWN - big city dog-groomer frustrated by his small-town lifestyle. Part dog-whisperer, part drill sergeant, Shawn has dealt with dogs for years but needs a day off from his work. Years ago, he cared about dogs, now it¹s his job and dogs are whiny clients.
DORA MOLINA - 20-30 years old and a bit of a primadona. When she¹s not working as an attractive secretary for the top lawyer in Silverdale, she hangs out in her bathroom, painting her nails, blabbing on the phone. She likes to complain
ROB SWENSEN 40-year-old fire chief in Silverdale. Patrick and Swensen were in the same basic fire training unit and have been friends ever since. Is a good leader, handsome with a charming quality to him even in the face of danger.
PHYLLIS - 30-40 year old woman who runs the art gallery next to the ice cream store. She¹s a smart, Birkenstock-wearing artisan who plays a role in local politics and news. Pretty cute without her librarian glasses and homemade sweaters.
BERRY - 15 to 16-year-old, pimple-faced kid who works at the local Ice Cream Parlor. He doesn¹t drive yet, and his easy-going nature makes him a favorite in the downtown businesses. He likes Patrick, maybe even could see himself in the Fire Department like Patrick one day.
JUNKYARD OWNER callous. His rutty face is the result of years of hard physical outdoor labor, lots of booze and working under the hoods of greasy cars. Never cared much for people. Owns a Doberman Pincher who means even less to him. His dog is like a gun: protection for his junk treasures.
TUSKEN RAIDER - Face-less freak of a guy wrapped in all types of gauze, goggles and a surgical mask. He¹s got broad shoulders, assuredly a veteran of Iraq. After coming home, his post-traumatic stress has gotten the best of him and he¹s been building his defense in preparation for another terrorist attack. He lives a secluded life with his pet boa constrictor and dog; a woman couldn¹t love an extremist like him. He collects guns and worships the flag like a religion.
LARRY - 45-year-old, perennially single truck-driver. He spent two years as a comedian in Second City before realizing he had to pay the bills. Funny and animated. Has the face of someone who probably has been in one too many bar-room brawls.
TOURIST 65-year-old retiree, overweight.
TOURIST WIFE the 65 year old wife of the retiree Not quite the body-shape of her husband, but close. Terrified of dogs.
UGLY HIPPIE - this is a cruel pot-smoking kid. His long hair and funny-looking face make him an obvious target in this film. He¹s one of these twenty-something types that wears rock and roll T-shirts from the early 70s who wasn¹t even born yet. For fun, he likes to blow pot smoke into his PUG¹s muzzle getting the poor dog high.
LEONARD THE MAILMAN - Out of a Norman Rockwell painting a timeless looking, friendly Mailman
COOL HIPPIE - good guy who disapproves of the Ugly Hippie getting his dog high with pot smoke.
DUANE foul-mouthed 40 to 50-year-old firefighter and trainer of Muzz, his all-business inbred Dalmation. Second in command to Swensen. He serves with honor, although he¹d rather be working dogs than fighting alongside men.
PARAMEDIC - thick-accented 35-year-old Paramedic.. Many years of worrying about accident victims has given him a permanent crease on his sweaty forehead.
LOIS (VOICE ONLY) Wife of Patrick. Always worried about Patrick¹s parenting skills. Defensive and tough on Patrick and knows how bad things could be without her there to "save the day."
