Equity and Non-Equity auditions for Avalon Theatre Company

Avalon Theatre Company announces Equity and non-Equity auditions for AN O. HENRY CHRISTMAS, A Christmas Musical by Peter Ekstrom, and THE COUNTRY GIRL by Clifford Odets.  Actors of all racial and ethnic backgrounds are encouraged to attend.

Auditions are by appointment only on Saturday, July 18 at Avalon in ArtSpace at Crestwood Court.  Auditions for AN O. HENRY CHRISTMAS and those wishing to be considered for both productions will be held from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm.  Preparation is one song not to exceed 32 bars and one monologue (two minutes max).  Auditions for THE COUNTRY GIRL will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 pm.  Preparation is one monologue (two minutes max).  Please bring 2 photos and resumes.

AN O. HENRY CHRISTMAS - Larry Mabrey, Director; Kevin Kurth, Musical Director
First rehearsal:  November 10, 2009.  Production dates:  December 3 – 20, 2009.

All roles available:

Della in The Gift of the Magi (doubles as Johnsy in The Last Leaf) – early 20's-early 30's, soprano
Jim in The Gift of the Magi (doubles as the Doctor in The Last Leaf) – early - mid-30's, bari-tenor
Sue in The Last Leaf - mid 20's to early 30's, mezzo-soprano
Behrman in The Last Leaf - to play "past 60", German dialect, character baritone

THE COUNTRY GIRL – Michael Jokerst, Director
First rehearsal:  February 16, 2010.  Production dates:  March 11 – 28, 2010.

The roles of Frank and Georgie are cast.

Seeking:

Bernie Dodd - The director, 35-40, attractive, direct, ambitious, sarcastic, controlling, passionate on the inside, coldly objective on the outside, prowling, successful, friendly but taciturn.

Phil Cook - The producer, 40-60, impatient, easily angered, aggressive, prone to snap judgments, gloomy, dependent, pouting, insecure on the inside, in control on the outside.

Paul Unger - The playwright, 30, quiet, soft-spoken, tender-hearted, open, simple in a good sense.

Nancy Stoddard - Young actress, 20-ish, ingénue, timid, ambitious, aware of her sexuality.

Larry - The stage manager, 25-40, respectful, deferent, aware of pecking order, tactful, observant, says a lot without saying anything.

Ralph (may be played by the same actor playing Larry) - The dresser.

Perusal scripts will be available (to be read at the theatre) during regular Avalon box office hours beginning Thursday, July 9.  Box office hours are Thursdays and Fridays from 12 – 3 pm and Saturdays from 11 am – 3 pm.  Callbacks for THE COUNTRY GIRL are Monday, July 20 from 6 – 10 pm. Callbacks for AN O. HENRY CHRISTMAS are Monday, July 27 from 6 – 10 pm.
