Volunteer Volunteer Elves

at Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis City, MO

Each year the Missouri Botanical Garden presents “Carols in the Garden” where visitors have the opportunity to listen to festive holiday carols, visit with Santa, meet Rudolph, and take in the aroma of chestnuts roasting over an open fire. This year the Garden is expanding its holiday events with a “Story Tram”. We’re looking for volunteer “elves” who will read a story and lead a sing-a-long with visitors who board the tram. Each volunteer elf will be fitted with a costume. We’re holding “auditions” the first week in November. All potential elves will be asked to read passages from “Twas the night before Christmas” and sing a few bars of a holiday carol (no musical accompaniment will be provided). (The actual story that will be read during the event will be “Twas the night before Christmas” as told from Garden founder Henry Shaw’s perspective.) The dates for Carols in the Garden and Story Tram are: December 4 and 5, 11 and 12, and 18 and 19. To adequately staff this volunteer position, we need four elves (2 each day) to commit to four hours (1 to 5 p.m.) on Saturday or Sunday each of those three weekends; i.e., if an elf decides to cover the 1 to 5 p.m. shift on Saturday, that elf will be at the Garden on December 4, 11, and 18. Sunday elves are needed on December 5, 12, and 19
