Open Theatre Technician-Part Time

at Chesterfield Community Theatre in Chesterfield, MO

Part Time Theatre Technician at the Chesterfield Family YMCA/Chesterfield Community Theatre. Must be available nights and weekends.

Under the direction of the Theater Technical Director, and Artistic Director the Theater Technician performs routine recurring and non-recurring functions related to theater operations, in accordance with the policies, procedures and standards of the Association and the Branch.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Actively Promote theatre safety and policies
Build and paint sets and props as needed for Y-rep shows and client rental functions
Supervise church staff during weekly Sunday rentals.
Supervise and assist clients during scheduled periodic rentals
Will operate sound and lighting equipment as needed and assist the client in any other aspects of production.
Will arrive prior to client arrival to insure the facility is unlocked and needed equipment is set up and ready for use
Supervise volunteer crew of all ages during set builds and work calls
Keep backstage and storage areas clean: sweep, dry mop, and empty trash when needed
Will be responsible for the safe operation of YMCA equipment and insure that equipment is powered down, locked up, and accounted for at the end of the rental period.
Set up and tear down and move sets and props as needed for daily theater operations
Perform all assigned duties necessary to keep the theater clean, safe and in proper working order.
Will report any problems or concerns to the Technical Director or Artistic director.
Will follow all YMCA policies and procedures and insure that YMCA policies are followed (i.e.: No food or beverages in theater)
Will maintain a clean and neat appearance and wear staff nametag while on duty as a Technician.
Will follow emergency procedures and insure the safety of client and participants in the event of an emergency. Will be well versed on YMCA emergency procedures and be prepared for medical emergencies, tornadoes, power outages, fires or other disasters.
Perform all duties with honesty, caring, respect, responsibility, and faith.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB (include as many as necessary)

Work every Sunday morning from 5:45 am-12 noon.
Climb and perform simple tasks on a 14-foot stepladder as well as being able to work comfortably on a 28ft high-enclosed catwalk.
Safely operate basic carpentry tools such as screw guns, wrenches, Table saws, and the like
Build and repair props and sets as needed
Troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed.
Positively interact with members, staff and volunteers.

Requirements
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School diploma with at least two years of practical experience.

Experience: The Technician will have at least Two years of practical experience in theater operations including Event or show production and lighting and sound operation.


Special skills, Licenses, Certifications or Equipment: Basic operational knowledge of lighting and audio
