Bartenders needed for Mix-Off for Mother Earth
at The Pub Theater Co. in St. Louis, MO
Mixology meets Ecology as the cast of St. Louis’ hilarity-infused comedy revue shakes it up to raise money and awareness for Wildlife Rescue Center of Missouri. In addition to being a source of community outreach and education programs, the WRC specializes in the rescue, rehabilitation and release of a broad spectrum of native Missouri wildlife. And we do love the wild life! So let’s take this opportunity to give back…
Pub Theater Company and Atomic Cowboy are seeking the ideal Earth Day-themed cocktail to celebrate the launch of Bye Bye Liver’s summer series at The Fox Hole. We’re calling on St Louis’ brightest bartenders to concoct a perfect potion for the discriminating palettes of Bye Bye Liver’s fans, to be judged by a non-partisan tribunal of industry experts.
Bartenders will be given 2 minutes to prep the stage and up to 5 minutes to demonstrate the preparation of their unique cocktail and provide samples for the panel. Cocktails will be judged on the following criterion:
10 Points for Taste
5 Points for Appearance
5 Points for Originality of Presentation
The stars of Bye Bye Liver will emcee the evening and bartending demonstrations will be interspersed with short sketches and games from the Bye Bye Liver playbook. Contestants must bring own supplies including all bar tools, mixers, fruit, garnishes, cups, etc. and be prepared to build their drink ‘from scratch’ on a bar-height table on the Foxhole stage. Running order will be selected at random prior to the show.
TO ENTER: $125 Entry Fee / First come. Capped at 12 contestants total w/ no more than 2 contestants representing any single establishment or group
Cash Prize Pool = $1000 1st place
Runner-up and door prizes for all contestants TBD.
Things that are NOT allowed:
- Fire
- Fireworks
- Firearms
- Any live animals (though wildlife themes are encouraged)
Things that are allowed:
-Pretty much everything else. Contestants are allowed to bring up to two “barbacks” to assist with preparation and presentation of their cocktails. Recorded musical accompaniment, props, costumes, flair, choreography and all other forms of creativity are encouraged.
"Bartenders" can be working professionals at an area bar, or anyone that knows how to work magic with a bottle and a glass.
Bartender’s parent venues, when applicable, will benefit from on-stage mentions and we will make sure that everyone at the event knows where and when they can taste more our contestants’ lascivious libations.
“Mix-Off for Mother Earth,” an Earth Day event on April 22 from 8pm-midnight, will herald the Bye Bye Liver series expansion at The Fox Hole, while raising funds and awareness for the Wildlife Rescue Center of Missouri. Audiences can preview games and sketches from the Bye Bye Liver playbook while challenging some of St. Louis’ best bartenders to build and present unique, Earth Day-themed cocktails for up to a $1000 top cash prize.
Bartenders interested in competing can contact Event Director Casey Scott at cscott @hwykey.com for an application.
Tickets for the Mix-Off are $18 and available through Bye Bye Liver ticket outlets at (314) 827-4185 or online at byebyeliver.com/stlouis.
