First Run Theatre Spectrum 2011 - Call for Directors

First Run Theatre, a non-profit professional theatre company, is calling for volunteer directors for our annual Short Play Festival, Spectrum 2011. Resumes will be accepted through May 31 2011. We will choose two directors for the festival. Along with a Board member, these two directors will read the submissions and select between eight and ten plays from the submitted scripts. Deadline for play submissions is June 30, 2011.
The selected plays must be approved by the First Run President and Producer. These plays will be divided into two acts and each director will be responsible for one act. Play selection will be finalized by July 15, and Auditions are tentatively scheduled for July 30 and August 1. Auditions and rehearsals will take place at De Smet Jesuit High School.
Spectrum performances will take place in a “black box” theater in the Crestwood Court. Performance dates are tentatively set for October 14, 15, 21 and 22 at 8 PM, and October 16 and 23 at 2 PM. Plays will be performed on a bare stage, using acting boxes and minimal use of tables and chairs. Costuming will consist of black clothing only; with limited use of colorful accessories where appropriate. Prop use is limited to those deemed as absolutely essential by the directors and producer.
