Children's Chorus Auditions
at Union Avenue Opera in St. Louis, MO
Open Auditions – Monday May 9, 4-5pm
Union Avenue Opera is seeking children to be in its upcoming productions of Puccini’s Turandot and Jake Heggie’s Dead Man Walking.
We are seeking unchanged boy voices and girls up to age 12. Children may audition for one or both operas. Children will be taught a musical selection from the operas at auditions and will then perform said selection.
Music Rehearsals:
There will be four music rehearsals in early June for each production (dates TBD).
Staging Rehearsals:
Turandot: June 19th – July 6th in the evenings and on weekends. There is a mandatory orchestra dress rehearsal the evening of July 4.
Dead Man Walking: July 31st – August 7th in the evenings and on weekends.
Rehearsals will not be every night during the rehearsal period, however availability is a must. We will take into consideration evening conflicts and will avoid late nights as much as possible up to production week.
Performance Dates:
Turandot: July 8, 9, 15, 16 all at 8pm
Dead Man Walking: August 19, 20, 26, 27 all at 8pm
The performances are accompanied by UAO’s orchestra and will be conducted by UAO Artistic Director Scott Schoonover and directed by Mark James Meier, Turandot and Tim Ocel, Dead Man Walking. The rest of the cast is made up of seasoned professionals from across the country.
Children’s chorus positions are all unpaid and volunteer.
