at COCA in University City, MO

Students auditioning for more than one company (two maximum) must attend both auditions. Ballet Eclectica, COCA’s ballet company for students 10-18, COCAdance, a modern dance company for students 11-18, and Hip-Hop Crew, for students 10-18, are holding joint auditions.* Ballet Eclectica’s repertoire incorporates elements of classical and contemporary ballet. The repertoire of COCAdance includes modern and a variety of jazz styles. The Hip-Hop Crew will perform January 6-8 in the COCA Family Theatre Series. Dancers have the opportunity to work with nationally acclaimed choreographers and, in the past several years, have worked with guest artists such as Robert Battle, Kirven J. Boyd, Frank Chaves, Thaddeus Davis, Antonio Douthit, Darrell Grand Moultrie, Jason Hartley (Trey McIntyre Project), Jon Lehrer, Lara Teeter, Michael Uthoff, among others. If cast, students must pay a participation fee; need-based financial aid is available for those who qualify.
A “mock audition” is scheduled for Monday, August 15 from 5:30-8:30pm (5:00-5:30pm sign-in), and is an opportunity for parents and dancers to gain valuable information about COCA, the companies and the audition process. Call COCA Director of Dance Amy Scheers at 725-1834. ext. 126.
