at Young People's Theater in St. Peters, MO

Young People's Theater will soon be holding auditions for Lionel Bart's Oliver!

Who: Young People's Theater, a youth theater for young actors between 8 and 18 years of age.

Where: St. Charles Community College (4601 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, Cottleville) Auditions will take place in the theater of the Fine Arts Building. Closest parking will be the BLUE parking lot.

What: Lionel Bart's Oliver!, a full-length musical in two acts. The production features many well-known and loved songs, and there are a variety of roles available, both speaking and/or vocal. There is also a large singing and dancing ensemble, consisting of orphans, Fagin's gang, and ensemble.

When: Tuesday, January 3rd at 6 PM.
Callbacks for principal characters will occur Thursday, January 5th, also at 6 PM.
Those cast will be emailed in the morning, Friday, January 6.

How: You do not NEED to bring anything, other than comfortable clothing. However, you have the option to show a prepared song cutting, 16-32 measures in length. CD accompaniment is preferred, but a piano player will be available. If you have sheet music, please make sure it is in the correct key and legible. Not preparing a song will not count against you, as we will teach you a song at the audition. The rest of the audition will consist of cold readings. British accents (both upper class and lower class) are a bonus during the reading. There will also be a short dance combination taught, so again, make sure you bring comfortable clothes!

The Fine Print: This production will consist of 8 performances over two weekends, March 16 through March 25. All cast members need to be available to rehearse daily from March 5 through March 15. There is a mandatory parent meeting for those cast on Friday, January 6 at 6 PM and rehearsals start Saturday, January 7 at 9 AM. Rehearsals will occur on Monday and Thursday, 6-9:30 PM and Saturday, 9 AM to 5 PM with an hour for lunch. Again, rehearsal is daily from March 5-March 15. There is a one time production fee of $125 and a costume/makeup fee of $25.

If you need information, feel free to reply to this ad and I will get back to you ASAP. My name is Sean, and I am the musical director of the program.

Thanks so much for reading this and we hope to see you at the audition!
