Vocalists & musicians for Beach Boys Tribute Band
at buzzmusicmedia in St. Louis, MO
Seeking vocalists and musicians who know the harmonies and love the music of Brian Wilson and the associated members of the Beach Boys, with a catalog of songs that spans from 1962 to the current day. If you're interested, please contact me via buzzsings via yahoo - or buzzmusicmedia through gmail - and I'll send you information. We hope to have this project up and running by spring, with first meetings and practices sometime in Feb. 2012.
NOTE: 2012 is The Beach Boys 50th Anniversary year - they are touring with the remaining living members. Here in St. Louis, this TRIBUTE BAND is forming to perform the songs of The Beach Boys, Brian Wilson, Carl Wilson, Dennis Wilson, and the associated members of the band through the years (others include Bruce Johnston, Alan Jardine, Glen Campbell, David Marks, Billy Hinsche, Jeffrey Foskett, etc.).
Songs likely to be on the list include some solo Brian Wilson, Carl Wilson and Dennis Wilson material. But the Beach Boys material would focus on the major hits as well as "fan favorites" that go much deeper into the realm of their careers --- songs that only fans really know well. Everything from Surfin' and Surfin' USA to Surf's Up and Sail On Sailor, Wouldn't It Be Nice, Cotton Fields, Add Some Music To Your Day, Cabinessence, Good Vibrations, Good Timin', Come Go With Me (Alan Jardine produced), Goin' On, Only With You, Marcella, Shut Down, Little Deuce Coupe, I Get Around, In My Room, and solo songs like "River Song" from Dennis Wilson, "Your Imagination" and "Soul Searchin'" from Brian Wilson solo projects (some SMiLE material), and others too numerous to mention. Yes, there will be obscure songs and hits side by side on the program. There's a 50 year history to go through, so we can try new material for years to come.
This project is aimed for performances at various venues around the St. Louis area during the summer and possibly make an out of town trip (or more?) - schedule permitting - in 2012 to mid-west locations that hire tribute bands. This is a new band being built from the ground up. If you sing or play any of the instruments in these songs and you would like to be included, just let us know.
Instrumentation will include: guitars, keyboards, percussion, bass guitars, occasional banjo, set drums AND auxiliary percussion, horns (saxophones, trumpet, french horn, trombone), strings (violin, viola, cello, double bass), and others used in the various elements of Beach Boys songs.
Men and women are encouraged to come perform OR ARRANGE the vocals and music. The working title of the band has not been set, except it is a "Beach Boys Tribute Band in St. Louis" - hopefully we will have a name by the second or third practice that we can share with the world.
PLEASE tell anyone you know that is a Beach Boys/Brian Wilson (etc.) fan and loves to sing or play their music --- we are excited to have this major undertaking in our region in 2012!
