2012 St. Charles Shakespeare in the Park
at Riverside Shakespeare Theatre Co. in St. Charles, MO
Riverside Shakespeare is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Theatre Company dedicated to providing quality performances for the public.
Auditions for Shakespeare's pastoral comedy "As You Like It" will be held at the Foundry Art Centre (520 North Main street, St. Charles MO)
Feb. 29 from 3-8,
and on March 3 from 12-2.
Callbacks will be held on March 3 from 2-5.
Each auditionee will be asked to prepare a 1-2 minute personal narrative about their interest in/experience(s) with Shakespeare.
Auditions will also consist of cold readings from the play.
Saint Charles Shakespeare in the Park will be Performed June 21,22,23,29,30 & July 1st in Frontier Park in Saint Charles.
An "Acting for Shakespeare Class" will be held on April 4th from 5-8pm for the Cast.
Rehearsals will take place starting Mid-May at TBD location.
The production will include vocal performances.
Twelve men and four women will be cast.
Actor 1 - Orlando - a young, handsome, rather naive well-born but not well-educated lover in his 20s.
Actor 2 - Oliver - Orlando's older brother who treats Orlando miserably because he is jealous of him. Mid to late 20s.
Actor 3 - Duke Frederick/Duke Senior - Duke Frederick is the usurping brother of Duke Senior. Duke Frederick is villainous; Duke Senior finds peace and serenity in the Forest of Arden. 40-60
Actor 4 - Le Beau/Jacques - Le Beau is a foppish nobleman in the court of the tyrannous Duke Frederick. Jaques is a melancholic cynic who resides in the Forest with Duke Senior. 30-40
Actor 5 - Adam/Corin - Adam is the aged servant of Orlando. He is a figure of unalloyed goodness, loyalty, and faith. Corin is an honest, elderly shepherd who lives in Arden - 60-70
Actor 6 - Touchstone - A professional fool in the court of Duke Frederick. Travels to Arden with Rosalind and Celia and falls in love with Audrey. 30-50
Actor 7 - Charles/William/Hymen - Charles is a wrestler who surprisingly gets beaten in a match with Orlando. William is a country bumpkin. Hymen is the Roman God of Marriage. 30-50
Actor 8 - Silvius/First Lord - Silvius is a young, verse-speaking, pastoral lover who is smitten with Phebe. The First Lord is in service to both Dukes, and must be able to sing. 20-30
Actor 9 - Second Lord/Sir Oliver Martext - Second Lord is in service to both Dukes, and must be able to sing. Sir Oliver Martext is a country priest. 30-40
Actor 10 - Amiens/Jaques de Boys - Amiens is a singer in the court of Duke Senior. Jaques de Boys is the brother of Oliver and Orlando who only appears in Viv. - 20-40
Actor 11 - First Page - Follower of both Dukes. Should be able to sing. 20-50
Actor 12 - Second Page - Follower of both Dukes. Should be able to sing. 20-50
Actress 1 - Roasalind - One of Shakespeare's most charming heroines. She is the lover of Orlando and the daughter of the exiled Duke Senior. Preferably tall and blond. 20s
Actress 2 - Celia - Duke Frederick's daughter and Rosalind's cousin. She falls in love with the transformed Oliver at play's end. Preferably short and dark. 20s
Actress 3 - Phebe/Gentlewoman - A young, verse-speaking pastoral lover who falls in love with the disguised Rosalind, but ends up with Silvius. Preferably short and dark. 20s
Actress 4 - Audrey/Gentlewoman - A young goatherd who marries Touchstone. Uneducated to a ridiculous degree! Preferably red head. 20s
We are also looking for volunteers (many opportunities available) for Set construction, festival staff, concession stand, and grounds crew.
Crew positions are also available (SM, ASM, Costume design/creation, Tech positions)
