Auditions for MUDDY RIVER
at Gitana Productions in St. Louis City, MO
Gitana Productions will be hosting auditions for male and female dancers for the total dance theater experience in MUDDY RIVER, written by Lou Robinson, two time winner of the E. Desmond Lee Playwright competition. The show is directed and choreographed by Vivian Anderson-Watt, for dancers of all techniques from all ethnic groups and from ages 10-50.
Auditions will be held at 1:00 p.m. on March 3, 2012 at City Studio, located at 4397 Laclede @ Newstead. (Enter Newstead side) and on March 4, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Pinx Academy located 6537 Olive Blvd. For both sites 1:00-1:30 is registration and warm up. MUDDY RIVER creates the mirror through which we see ourselves as diverse St. Louisans and we look at the perceptions of others from key historical and everyday events such as the 1904 Worlds Fair, the East St. Louis Race Riots and more.
Dancers should come prepared with their own 1 minute dance specialty and be prepared to learn a 64 count choreographed jazz, hip hop, lyrical, tap or African selection. Dancers should be comfortable with improvisation and possibly mime. Dancers will not be required to demonstrate all techniques. There is a stipend for principal dancers. The rehearsal period begins April 1 and the performance dates are May 11-12, 8pm and May 18-19, 8pm. Please be prepared to list all conflicts on registration form
