Open Avalon Theatre Company 2010 - 2011 Season Generals

at Avalon Theatre Company in Crestwood, MO

Avalon Theatre Company announces Equity and non-Equity general auditions for its 2010 – 2011 season. Actors of all racial and ethnic backgrounds are enthusiastically encouraged to attend.

Auditions are by appointment only on Saturday, August 21 from 11am –4pm at Avalon Theatre Company in ArtSpace at Crestwood Court. Equity actors will be seen from 11am – 1pm; non-Equity actors will be seen from 1:30 – 4 pm. Preparation is two contrasting contemporary monologues not to exceed 3 minutes. Please bring 3 photos and resumes.

THE GOOD DOCTOR by Neil Simon
Director – Jim Anthony
First rehearsal: 10/19/10
Production dates: 11/11 – 11/21, 2010

The role of The Writer/Narrator is cast. Available roles:

Man 20’s-30’s
Man 50’s-60’s
Woman 20’s-30’s
Woman 50’s-60’s

Each actor will play multiple characters of varying styles.

THE PRICE by Arthur Miller
Director – Bobby Miller
First rehearsal: 1/11/11
Production dates: 2/03 – 2/13, 2011

All roles open:

Walter Franz - 50's, a successful surgeon; aloof, elitist, a certain selfish charm.

Victor Franz - late 40's-early 50's, Walter's younger brother; a policesergeant, eligible for retirement, a perceived failure in life where time and opportunity have passed him by.

Esther Franz - 40 - 50, Victor's wife; a mix of deeply buried andhidden resentments and bitterness. Dissatisfied with her husband's lack of achievement and ambition, probably has a drinking a problem.

Gregory Solomon - 70-80, a wily, crusty Russian-Jewish antique dealer.

AGNES OF GOD by John Pielmeier
Director – John Contini
First rehearsal: 4/05/11
Production dates: 4/28 – 5/08, 2011

The role of Dr. Livingstone is cast. Available roles:

Mother Miriam Ruth - Mother Superior, 50+. Before becoming a nun she was married for 23 years. Has children and grandchildren. A modern woman, tough but very vulnerable.

Sister Agnes - late teens to early twenties. She has lived an extremely sheltered life, ignorant of the world around her. Has a very haunting yet childlike quality. Should be able to sing in a beautiful soprano voice - church music acappella.

Production directors and Avalon artistic staff Larry Mabrey and Erin Kelley will attend with casting authority. Callbacks are the evenings of Mon., August 23 (THE GOOD DOCTOR) and Tues., August 24 (THE PRICE& AGNES OF GOD). Avalon operates under an SPT 1 contract (salary,health & pension) with Actors’ Equity Association. Non-Equity actors receive a stipend. To learn more about Avalon, visit www.avalontheatre.org.
