Auditions for BLITHE SPIRIT
at Kirkwood Theatre Guild in Kirkwood, MO
Kirkwood Theatre Guild kicks off its 80th season with auditions for BLITHE SPIRIT, directed by Paul Pagano.
The Noel Coward classic involves suave novelist Charles Condomine as he is haunted by the ghost of his attractive, but morally untidy first wife. What follows is a darkly funny competition between two women, one dead, one living, who battle for possession of their husband.
CHARACTERS:
Charles - 30's-40's; a novelist, subtly self-important but genuine.
Ruth - mid-30's to early 40's; Charles' second wife; well-to-do; feels she
plays second fiddle to Charles' writing and 1st wife.
Dr. Bradman - 40's-60's; friend of Charles; straight laced but open to new
experiences.
Mrs. Bradman - 40's-60's; thoroughly enjoys "getting out of the house."
Elvira - mid-20's-early 30's; Charles' first wife; she is dead; very
sarcastic; jealous of Ruth.
Madame Arcati - ageless; eccentric; wholly devoted to her work (looking for
an actress who can play the honesty of the role while still able to capture
the zaniness Arcati possesses. Will consider any actress that can play age
30 and older.)
Edith - any age; Charles' servant; actress playing this role must be
physically able to run.
All roles except Edith must speak in a Standard British dialect. Edith must
speak in a Cockney dialect. You will be expected to do so in the audition.
