Local film casting

t is still a while away, but I might as well post it now to see if I can get a cast out of the way early on.

This fall I will be making a short film entitled "Enemies" (working title), and I will need a particular cast.

"Enemies" is about a German WWII veteran who comes to America (particularly St. Louis) to track down the wife of a man who was killed back in the war.  He is tracking her down because he knows something about her deceased husband that she doesn't know.  The film is also about how people on both sides tried to regain some semblance of a life, living with great regret, and also trying to cope with old age and death.

Characters

Here is a description of the characters and what I'm looking for in actors/actress.

WILHELM STRAUSSMANN
Old German who is very secretive, and often lies to get himself out of nervous situations.  Seemingly gentle man who was mentally and emotionally scarred in World War II and since the end of the war has tried to lead a good, normal life.  Lives with a lot of regret, and has a slight air of determination in his character.  Very out of touch with the United States.

*Actors:  Age 60-80 years old.  Needs to look European in a way.  Knowing German is a plus but not required (lines will be translated).

HARRIET MARTIN
Old widow to a man killed in WWII.  Very gentle and giving, yet gullible.  She is fascinated after meeting Wilhelm and through their relationship we see that she in a way has never gotten over her husband's death back in the war.  Has no real regrets about her life.  Open-minded and good-tempered.

*Actresses:  Age 60-80 years old.  Not really any other qualifications.

Minor roles:
Curtis and Ernie:  Two young males who are in the flashback scene who get caught up in a battle.
Nick Martin:  Young male in the flashback scene who is killed
Two German soldiers:  Aged 20-35.  German is not required but certainly not frowned upon (again, lines will be translated).
Young Wilhelm Straussmann:  Young male aged 20-30.  Same qualifications as the other Germans

Again, it will be a long time until I shoot (Somewhere between late October and early January), but I thought I might as well post it now.  I believe this is a very important film to make (maybe one of the first narratives about WWII veterans not immediately following the war), and if you feel as though one of these roles may be for you, or if you know someone who might be good for one of these roles, please feel free to get in touch with me.  Below is some information on how to contact me.
Thank you.

Auditions for "The Odd Couple" for CCT

Clayton Community Theatre announces
auditions for Neil Simon’s
Oscar & Felix - a New Look at The Odd Couple.

CLAYTON, MO – (July 31, 2006) – Clayton Community Theatre has announced audition times and dates for its first production at the Concordia Seminary Theater, Neil Simon’s Oscar & Felix – A New Look at the Odd Couple, directed by Sam Hack.

Auditions will be held on Thursday, August 17th, at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, August 19th, at 1:00 p.m., in the Concordia Theater, 6501 Clayton Road.  Parts are available for six men and two women, as listed below.
Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.  Auditioners may attend either or both of the two audition sessions.  Off street parking is available on the west side of the building (at Clayton Rd. and St. Rita Ave.); the west building entrance should be used for the auditions.

Rehearsals will begin after Labor Day and will consist of 3-5 rehearsals per week (weekday evenings and/or weekend days). An exact schedule, determined by the availability of those involved will be made available the first week of rehearsals.  Tech Week will be October 23-26 and performance dates will be Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday matinees October 27-November 12.  Auditioners will be asked to list all conflicts and will be expected to be available for all Tech Week rehearsals and performance dates.

“Oscar & Felix is a delightful new take on Neil Simon’s original classic, incorporating most of the original script but adding some more contemporary dialogue and some updated characters,” said Hack.  “The play takes place in two acts instead of the original three, is a bit tighter and faster-moving, and features the delightful addition of the Costazuela sisters, two Iberia Airlines reservationists from Spain, as Oscar and Felix’s love interests.  Both fans of the Odd Couple and those who have never seen the original play will find Oscar & Felix to be new, refreshing and very funny.”

Clayton Community Theatre welcomes all interested parties to audition; no appointment is necessary.  All parts will be cast from the open auditions.  Individuals who would like to audition but cannot attend either of the audition sessions or others with additional questions are encouraged to contact director Sam Hack by phone at 314/721-9CCT or e-mail at CCT@PlacesEveryone.org.
