Auditions for "DON JUAN IN HELL"

Auditions will be held this Saturday for Shaw's "Don Juan in Hell". This production by the West End Players Guild will be directed by Steve Callahan.

"Don Juan" is the seldom-seen third act dream sequence from "Man and Superman". It's a play in its own right, and contains the very essence of Shaw's philosophy. It brims with wit, eloquence, and Shaw's biting critique of life and love and the sexes--and his zealous enthusiasm for Mankind's future. This is Shaw at his most brilliant!

Characters:
Don Juan--an articulate, elegant, thoughtful man in the grip of the Life Force.
Dona Ana--a former love of Juan's. Beautiful, proud, aristocratic, fiery.
The Statue--Ana's father, a military man. Proud but friendly. (And just a bit vain).
The Devil--a comfortable, sensual, middle-aged man with more than a little charm.

Production dates are January 9 through 28.

Auditions: Saturday, November 4
1:00 to 3:00 (no appointments needed)
Union Avenue Church--on Union just north of Delmar.
Park in the back and come down the outside steps to the theatre.

Stray Dog Theatre and Clayton Symphony Orchestra announce open
auditions for non-Equity actors for their fundraising concert
production of MY FAIR LADY by Lerner and Loewe on Saturday, November
18th. The production will begin evening rehearsals on November 27th
through December 14th and January & February 2007 and will play
February 16th & 17th at 8pm and Sunday, February 18th at 2pm.

All positions are for singers; cast in solo, ensemble, and multiple
character roles. Please prepare 16 bars of a ballad from the musical-
comedy repertoire (no 'legit' opera). Unless performing from the My
Fair Lady score, singers should have sheet music in the proper key;
an accompanist will be provided. No a cappella or recorded music
accepted. Short readings from the script will also be available to
demonstrate acting characterizations. Dance/Movement audition is not
necessary in this concert setting.

If auditioning for Eliza, prepare the refrain from "I Could Have
Danced All Night" to a high G. If auditioning for Professor Higgins,
prepare 32 bars from "I'm An Ordinary Man" and prepare to sing the
chorus of "The Rain in Spain."

This concert fundraiser focuses the attention on the symphony
orchestra on the Mainstage and the singers performing all of the
script and lyrics at the front edge of the stage. Minimal costuming
and choreography is employed, further heightening the beauty of the
vocal and instrumental strength of the show.

There is no pay as all participants from the staff, orchestra, and
technicians are donating their efforts to the outreach work of Stray
Dog Theatre and Clayton Symphony in this exciting musical production.

Please bring one resume and headshot in addition to your calendar.
You will be asked for specific scheduling conflicts. Arrive in
advance of your appointment in order to select a side from the script

Here is a synopsis and the character descriptions again as to what we are looking for...Please CLOSELY review them and see if you might fit them.

Synopsis: A young woman in her early 30s looses her husband to a car accident. Her husband was her high school sweetheart and only love. She has set her whole life around this man so when he dies she is lost without him. Until he begins to visit her in her dreams. Is this real? They meet in her dreams inside a purple room. Not even death can keep these lovers apart. Or is it all in her head? She slowly demises without her one true love. As she lives to dream her other world falls apart around her. Can she escape the pain that is eating her alive? Or will she always live within the Purple Room?

1. Damon

Description
Damon is the husband who died. Physically, he should be thin, and have dark eyes and hair. Much like his wife, he wears black all the time. In character, he contrasts his wife very greatly. He is an artist, so he is very creative and eccentric. Unlike his wife, he is confident and free-spirited. He is a bit of a joker and is very playful.

  2. Damon (Teenager)
As a teenager, he has the same character traits he has as an
adult...only he is a little bit more quiet. As he wears all black, he stands out in his Baptist private school suroundings. He is a bit of an outcast. However, the girls seem to find him mysterious and suave, so they flirt with him, and he has no interest in them.

We are attempting to shoot the film throughout the months of March
and April. Official dates will be negotiated.

For more info, please contact Cynthia @ 314-452-2991 or
Or visit the Purple Room group at

Thank you very much!
