Auditions for BOOTH
Auditions to be held for original musical at UMSL
Actors, singers and dancers are being sought for auditions for a new
musical
by two faculty and one staff member at the University of Missouri-St.
Louis.
"Booth!" focuses on the life of Edwin Booth, a 19th-century American
actor
considered by many historians to be the best of his era. Booth's younger
brother, John Wilkes Booth, also an actor, assassinated President
Abraham
Lincoln.
The auditions will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 4 and 5 in the
Whitaker
Room at the Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center at UMSL. Call
backs
will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 6. Those auditioning should come
with a
prepared three-minute monologue and song.
The musical was written by Niyi Coker, the E. Desmond Lee Endowed
Professor
of African/African-American Studies, with lyrics and music by Barbara
Harbach, professor of music at UMSL, and Jonathan Yordy, coordinator of
public relations at UMSL.
