Script Mechanics
THIS MONTH WE read Keith Douchant's script, Southern Gothic, an
offbeat comedy, and one of last year's Cinemaspoke finalists.
Just say we need 5 males and 4 females, and the greatest need would
be for females.
Not a repeat!!!!!!
Due to the bad weather last month several readers could not make it;
consequently, we have bumped his reading to this month.
Script Mechanics aims to assist screenwriters in polishing their
scripts by having actors read the scripts aloud. The writer hears
their dialogue and get fresh insights into their character from the
actors' take on the script. The actors and other writers in the
organization offer suggestions and comments at the end of the reading.
Script Mechanics meets the second Saturday of the month at the Buder
Library. The library is just south of the Chippewa and Hampton
intersection; the address is 4401 Hampton Ave, 63109. It's the brick
building with turquoise and glass trim. We will be in the small
meeting room downstairs from 1:00 - 5:45; however, the reading may
not take quite that long. Parking is available behind and south of
the building and in the lot in front of the bank across the side
street to the north.
Please contact Sandy Olmsted, at olmsteds@slu.edu for information or
to volunteer to have yor script read.
Captain KickAss Productions is looking for actors/actresses to
For those of you who are unfamiliar with this event, teams from
throughout the St. Louis region will be competing against each other
to write, shoot, and edit a short film over the course of a single
weekend. Teams are assigned certain elements mere minutes before the
festival starts, meaning that essentially all creativity must be done
in just 48 hours.
It's a crazy caffeine packed good time!
At any rate, we are looking for easy going and talented actors and
actresses to be part of our team. All looks, types, ages, and
experience levels are encouraged to submit a resume and head shot to
casting@ckaproduction.com.
Because there is no script, there are no roles that we are
necessarily looking to fill. Rather, we are looking for
personalities that we feel we could work well with, and who are
willing to be flexible with the kind/size of role they might
receive. Similarly, because there are no roles written as such, we
will not be doing a traditional casting. Instead we will be having an
informal get together in about two weeks. We intend to use this time
as a chance to get to know our potential cast, and get a better feel
for who you are, and who you could be/want to be on film.
We only have two requirements:
- You must have transportation to the Metro East
- You must be available ALL DAY on Saturday June 9
Please note that due to the nature of this competition, casting
decisions will not be made until the night that the festival begins,
mere hours before we actually start shooting. Chosen cast members
will be notified as soon as possible, and all cast members will be
emailed a copy of the script in the wee hours of the morning before
production begins.
Additionally note that due to restrictions put in place by the 48HFP,
all cast and crew members must be volunteers. As such, we can not
pay you. However we will provide lunch, and snacks throughout the
day. For additional information, please feel free to contact Seth
Treptow at (618) 541-2242 or via email at
streptow@ckaproduction.com. Also feel free to check out our website
- www.ckaproduction.com - for a better glimpse of who we are and what
we have done.

I'm looking for a Costumer/Craftsperson to teach a 2-week summer arts camp program at the Jewish Community Center in Chesterfield. The dates are June 25 - July 6 (no camp on July 4), Monday - Friday from 8:30am - 3pm. This is for kids from 2nd - 7th grades, teaching them to make jewelry and wearable art with found objects. PLEASE NOTE: This is a camp counselor position - the person hired would be with their group of children for the entire time period, including carpool in the morning and afternoon, daily 45-minute swimming lessons, and lunch. However, the balance of the time will be spent working with the kids on art projects. The children who enroll in this camp are very interested in art, creative and enthusiastic. The ideal candidate is reliable (you must be able to commit to the entire camp period), patient, works well with children, creative, and flexible. This is a paid position.

Jim & Susan, LLC is looking for extras for the independent feature
Need 20-25 background extras, including children, for Sunday, May
20th 9am-1pm and possibly one other day.
Minors will need to bring a copy of birth certificate.
These are non-speaking roles on location on a playground in Ferguson,
MO.
Film Synopsis:
Jim's narrative interweaves two distinct stories examining the
pressures of society and environment on
an individual's capacity to make decisions relating to his own well-
being. Part one deals with Jim, the
title character, and his rapid decline after the death of his young
wife. Being steadily crushed under the
weight of debt, unemployment, and increasing isolation, Jim reaches a
breaking point. Armed with
his wife's frozen eggs and a new resolve, Jim secures the services of
a large biotech firm to help him
create an heir who will be engineered to overcome the obstacles of
common men. Part two deals with the
long-term effects of Jim's action. Set in the distant future, Jim's
immortal son Niskaa and a small group of
similarly modified beings reign over a race of worker clones against
the backdrop of a super-industrialized,
post-apocalyptic earth.
