Casting for indie TV pilot - REVISED

Single-camera indie TV series "Beginnings" is currently casting for
its promo pilot.

This series follows five high school freshmen during the turn of the
century, in Spokane, WA. Before you read into the description, know
that "Beginnings" ditches the typical focus on dramatics and preachy
messages. Instead, the series focuses on the comedy, sticking to a
very natural flow despite its sometimes outlandish plots.

Now for the business details. We can't afford to pay anyone up front
for this project. The first line of this ad says "promo pilot", which
means the pilot we shoot is going to be used to market to potential
investors and producers as well as the general public. Any funding we
acquire will go towards shooting a full season as well as paying back
the cast and crew of this promo pilot. Those who work on this promo
pilot will get priority during casting for the full season. And you
will receive a copy for your reels.

Having said that, I need to make it clear that we can't afford to
have union cast members. Non-union and union eligible are encouraged
to apply.

Here is a breakdown of the parts we're casting:

LEADS
Edison - The dorky type, suddenly turned confident. Asian male.
Chris - Laid back, academically apathetic, but has a strong suit for
sports.
Greg - Weird, awkward person. Loves to go against the grain. Terrible
with women.
Ashley - Strong, confident, and laid back. Dresses very "scene".
Laura - A freshly pressed diamond. Shy, inconfident, but very
attractive.

MINORS
Katie - Attractive. Gets beaned in the head with a basketball. (no
lines.)
Donner - Stereotypical gym teacher, middle-age male. Not happy to see
a student get clobbered. (one line.)
Ted - Teacher. Mid-thirties. Does not like smart-ass students. (nine
lines.)
Clara - Frumpy librarian. (three lines.)
John - The principal. Older white male. Rules with reason, pretty
laid back but tries to lock it down when he thinks he has to. (12
lines.)
Carl - Looks strong. Typical jock archetype. (20 lines.)
Guy at Party - Could be anyone. Is in line by a keg. (2 lines.)

And we also need extras. A LOT of extras. I can't stress that enough.

This pilot is very dialogue-heavy and it's not only important that
those we cast are able to fit the look of their character, but also
deliver their lines with a smooth, natural likeness. Also, although
this is set in Spokane, we prefer to shoot in St. Louis because of
the resources and the versatility of the city.

Auditions are set for this Thursday and Friday by appointment, via
the e-mail link 1209productions@gmail.com. Because it's short notice, we will attempt to
resolve conflicts with these days to the best of our ability.

Please include your resume and recent photo(s). Address e-mails to
Jason 1209productions@gmail.com. Also indicate which characters you're auditioning for so we can e-mail you the appropriate sides (where applicable).

NOTE:
Also, the casting period has been extended another week to next Thursday and Friday (5/31 and 6/1 respectively)

Non-Equity auditions for NEW LINE THEATRE

NEWS FROM NEW LINE
===================
NEW LINE LOOKING FOR
MULTI-RACIAL CAST FOR
WORLD PREMIERE REVUE
"SEX, DRUGS, and ROCK AND ROLL"
AT THE NEW IVORY THEATRE

New Line Theatre will hold auditions for an exciting new revue of theatre songs, SEX, DRUGS, and ROCK AND ROLL, on two successive Monday evenings, June 11 and 18, 2007, at 7:00 p.m., at the ArtLoft Theatre, 1529 Washington, two
miles east of the Fox Theatre. Performers need to come to only one of the dates. SEX, DRUGS, and ROCK AND ROLL will be produced at the new Ivory Theatre for 12 performances over four weeks, Sept. 27-Oct. 20, 2007. For more info about the show, go to www.newlinetheatre.com/sexpage.html
or for other audition info, visit www.newlinetheatre.com/auditions.html

Can anyone doubt that SEX, DRUGS, and ROCK AND ROLL are the three most powerful forces in American culture today -- and for the last fifty years (even longer for sex and drugs)? With continual nationwide debates over teen pregnancy, gay marriage, abortion, smoking, medical marijuana, illegal drug trade, pop music lyrics, hip-hop culture, and lots more, could it finally be time to stop demonizing these forces and start understanding more deeply humans' relationship to them? SEX, DRUGS, and ROCK AND ROLL is a fearless celebration and exploration of these three ubiquitous forces on Americans and our culture.

Ranging widely from the actual moment of conception ("Prologue from Baby") to venereal disease ("I Got It from Agnes") to adultery ("Nobody Needs to Know") to threesomes ("By Threes") to adult entertainment ("Perky Little Porn Star"), Act I explores the complexities of human sexuality in all its comedy and tragedy. Act II tackles drugs from marijuana ("Pitch for Pot") to Hashish ("Hashish") to morphine ("The Morphine Tango"); and then goes on to explore extreme human emotions that only rock music can fully express, in songs from Jesus Christ Superstar, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, The Rocky Horror Show, Reefer Madness, and other shows.

New Line is looking for a multi-racial cast of 16 adult men and women. We will not cast anyone under 17. New Line is looking for strong actors who sing well and who are willing to take risks onstage. Performers are asked to bring a
prepared contemporary theatre song, with printed piano music for our pianist (no tapes and no a cappella). There will not be a dance audition. Performers may also be asked to sing from the score. The show is conceived and directed by Scott Miller.

Rehearsals will be three nights a week, on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 10:00 p.m., starting in early August, and every night the week the show opens. The show runs Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, for four weeks, Sept. 27-Oct. 20, 2007 at the Ivory Theatre, 7622 Michigan in Carondelet. Performers will share a guaranteed 10% of box office receipts. Call 314-773-6526 for more information No appointments are necessary. All performers should arrive at the ArtLoft for the audition before 7:00 p.m. New Line is a non-union professional company and is very eager to cast a multi-racial company.
