Actors needed

Script Mechanics

Sat JUNE 9
at the Buder Library
1:00 - 5:45

THIS MONTH WE read Robert Hazel Secrets, Favors & Lies and we will need three women and three male,
along with a narrator of either gender.

Script Mechanics aims to assist screenwriters in polishing their scripts by having actors read the scripts aloud. The writer hears their dialogue and get fresh insights into their character from the actors' take on the script. The actors and other writers in the organization offer suggestions and comments at the end of the reading.
Script Mechanics meets the second Saturday of the month at the Buder Library. The library is just south of the Chippewa and Hampton intersection; the address is 4401 Hampton Ave, 63109. It's the brick building with turquoise and glass trim. We will be in the small meeting room downstairs from 1:00 - 5:45; however, the reading may not take quite that long. Parking is available behind and south of the building and in the lot in front of the bank across the side street to the north.

Please contact Sandy Olmsted, at
olmsteds@slu.edu for information or to volunteer to have yor script read.

Local Producer seeks Composers

I am currently involved in producing a project that needs several different Musical Theatre composers.  All styles of composers are open to inquire; Rock, Blues, Pop, Big Broadway, etc.

This means I am looking for a person (or a team) who can completely compose songs from the melody conception (music and lyrics) to the finished product on the actual sheet music. This also means they might be able to do arrangement for different instruments.

If you fit this description please feel free to email me for the details to my

Auditions for SEX, DRUGS AND ROCK AND ROLL

NEW LINE LOOKING FOR
MULTI-RACIAL CAST FOR
WORLD PREMIERE REVUE
"SEX, DRUGS, and ROCK AND ROLL"
AT THE NEW IVORY THEATRE

New Line Theatre will hold auditions for an exciting new revue of theatre songs, SEX, DRUGS, and ROCK AND ROLL, on two successive Monday evenings, June 11 and 18, 2007, at 7:00 p.m., at the ArtLoft Theatre, 1529 Washington, two
miles east of the Fox Theatre. Performers need to come to only one of the dates. SEX, DRUGS, and ROCK AND ROLL will be produced at the new Ivory Theatre for 12 performances over four weeks, Sept. 27-Oct. 20, 2007. For more info about the show, go to www.newlinetheatre.com/sexpage.html or for other audition info, visit www.newlinetheatre.com/auditions.html

Can anyone doubt that SEX, DRUGS, and ROCK AND ROLL are the three most powerful forces in American culture today -- and for the last fifty years (even longer for sex and drugs)? With continual nationwide debates over teen pregnancy, gay marriage, abortion, smoking, medical marijuana, illegal drug trade, pop music lyrics, hip-hop culture, and lots more, could it finally be time to stop demonizing these forces and start understanding more deeply humans' relationship to them? SEX, DRUGS, and ROCK AND ROLL is a fearless celebration and exploration of these three ubiquitous forces on Americans and our culture.

Ranging widely from the actual moment of conception ("Prologue from Baby") to venereal disease ("I Got It from Agnes") to adultery ("Nobody Needs to Know") to threesomes ("By Threes") to adult entertainment ("Perky Little Porn Star"), Act I explores the complexities of human sexuality in all its comedy and tragedy. Act II tackles drugs from marijuana ("Pitch for Pot") to Hashish ("Hashish") to morphine ("The Morphine Tango"); and then goes on to explore extreme human emotions that only rock music can fully express, in songs from Jesus Christ Superstar, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, The Rocky Horror Show, Reefer Madness, and other shows.

New Line is looking for a multi-racial cast of 16 adult men and women. We will not cast anyone under 17. New Line is looking for strong actors who sing well and who are willing to take risks onstage. Performers are asked to bring a prepared contemporary theatre song, with printed piano music for our pianist (no tapes and no a cappella). There will not be a dance audition. Performers may also be asked to sing from the score. The show is conceived and directed by Scott Miller.

Rehearsals will be three nights a week, on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 10:00 p.m., starting in early August, and every night the week the show opens. The show runs Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, for four weeks, Sept. 27-Oct. 20, 2007 at the Ivory Theatre, 7622 Michigan in Carondelet. Performers will share a guaranteed 10% of box office receipts. Call 314-773-6526 for more information No appointments are necessary. All performers should arrive at the ArtLoft for the audition before 7:00 p.m. New Line is a non-union professional company and is very eager to cast a multi-racial company.
