The auditions are for a theatre production of the comedy The Neighborhood Crime Watch for the St. Louis Community College at Meramec.

Audition dates and times are August 26 and 27 at 7pm.

There are no profession requirements

The roles are: male-age about 30, male-age mid 30s, male-age about 50, male-age 35-50, male-35-50, female-age about 30, female-of an undefinable age.

Clayton Community Theatre announces auditions for Peter Shaffer's
Black Comedy/White Liars

Open auditions for the Clayton Community Theatre
production of Peter Shaffer's one-act plays Black Comedy (directed by
Tim Kelly) and White Liars (directed by Dani Mann) will be held
Sunday, August 17, at 4:00 p.m. and Tuesday, August 19, at 7:00 p.m.
at the Washington University South Campus, 6501 Clayton Road.
Black Comedy/White Liars, the first production of CCT's 2008-09
season, will be performed at the Washington University South Campus
Theater November 7-23, 2008, with Friday and Saturday evening and
Sunday matinee performances. Rehearsals will begin the second week of
September. Tech Week will be November 2-6.
Clayton Community Theatre welcomes all interested parties
to audition and hopes to present an ethnically-diverse cast. No
audition appointment is necessary. All parts will be cast from the
open auditions. Auditioners may attend either audition session;
callbacks, if needed, will be announced after the open auditions.

Plot Summary: Black Comedy

In this comedy, young artist Brindsley, and his hoity-toity girlfriend
Carol 'borrow' neighbor Harold's furniture in an attempt to impress
millionaire art collector, Georg Bamberger, and Carol's conservative
father, the Colonel. However, a blown fuse just prior to the visit
plunges the set into 'darkness' and sets in motion a series of events
that effectively wreck the evening, including the unexpected
appearance of Harold and Brindsley's ex-girlfriend Clea, plus the
untimely arrival of Colonel Melkett, thus whipping up a farcical storm
that makes for a hilarious evening.

Cast of Characters: Black Comedy

Brindsley Miller, a young sculptor (mid-twenties), intelligent and
attractive, but nervous and uncertain of himself.
Carol Melkett, Brindsley's fiancée (late teens/20's). A young
debutante; very pretty, very spoiled; very silly. Her sound is that
unmistakable, terrifying debutante quack.
Miss Furnival, a middle-aged lady (30's-50's). Prissy and refined.
Clad in the blouse and sack skirt of her gentility, her hair in a bun,
her voice in a bun, she reveals only the repressed gestures of the
middle-class spinster— until alcohol undoes her.
Colonel Melkett, Carol's commanding father (40's-50's). Brisk, barky,
yet given to sudden vocal calms which suggest a deep and alarming
instability. It is not only the constant darkness which gives him his
look of wide-eyed suspicion.
Harold Gorringe, the bachelor owner of an antique and china shop, and
Brindsley' s neighbor (Older than Brindsley, age flexible). Harold
comes from the North of England. His friendship is highly conditional
and possessive: sooner or later, payment for it will be asked. A
specialist in emotional blackmail, he can become hysterical when
slighted, or (as inevitably happens) rejected.
Schuppanzigh, a German refugee, chubby, cultivated, and effervescent
(age flexible). He is an entirely happy man, delighted to be in
England, even if it means being employed full time by the London
Electricity Board.
Clea, Brindsley's ex-mistress (20's-30's). Dazzling, emotional,
bright and mischievous. The challenge to her to create a dramatic
situation out of the darkness is ultimately irresistible.
Georg Bamberger, an elderly millionaire art collector, easily
identifiable as such (50+). Like Schuppanzigh, he is a German.

Auditioners for Black Comedy will perform cold readings from the
script. Auditioners may choose to also perform a prepared monologue
but this is not required. Ability to perform in appropriate accent is
a plus.

Plot Summary: White Liars

The drama White Liars revolves around Sophie Lemberg, an eccentric and
disillusioned fortune teller (who imagines herself to be a baroness of
the Holy Roman Empire) living in a decaying English seaside resort,
and the two young men - Tom, the lead singer in a rock band, and
Frank, his business manager - who consult her.

Cast of Characters: White Liars

Sophie (~50's, age flexible) German accent
Tom (~20's) trendy rocker, uses both a North Country dialect, as well
as a Proper British accent
Frank (~20's/30's) British accent, middle class, soft-spoken and
gentle; his manner is shy, warm, and immediately likable.

Auditioners for White Liars should prepare a short theatrical
monologue (memorized). Additional script readings may be requested at
the time of the audition. Use of an appropriate accent in your
monologue is a plus but not required.

St. Charles Community College's Center Stage Theatre is holding open auditions for "Lost in Yonkers," the opening production of the 2008-09 season.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning play is set in Yonkers, N.Y. in the 1940s. The comedy-drama follows the story of two boys who stay with their grandmother and an assortment of odd family members while their father travels to earn money to pay off a debt.

Director Pamela Cilek, SCC theater professor, will hold open auditions from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, and 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18. Auditions will be in the theater of the Donald D. Shook Fine Arts Building on the college campus in Cottleville. Callbacks will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19.

Auditions are open to anyone in the community. There are four men's roles and three female roles available. Rehearsals will begin on Aug. 20 and run for approximately six weeks.

"Lost in Yonkers" will be performed in the theater of the Fine Arts Building at 8 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday, Oct. 1-4, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5. There will be a matinee performance for high school students at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2.

Seeking a reliable actress with proven talent to play a reporter once a week for the next 20 weeks. This sounds rather involved, but in actuality it's a one minute rehearsed stand up in front of the camera for a new sports humor site. What this means is once a week at a pre-arranged time we shoot for about 15-20 minutes, that's it! You have read and rehearsed the lines, and do a reporter walk, or sit at a desk, and deliver the news. Located in St. Louis city near South Grand, so prefer those who are close by we will be getting together often.

Continuing the Tin Ceiling experimental 2008 Season comes auditions
for our next show, the world premiere of: "Deux Ex Machina: The 13th
Labor of Hercules"

Synopsis:

This farcical modern send up of classic Greek comedies tells the
adventures of Hercules and his thoroughly modern friend Jim as they
set off on a quest to obtain the Golden Phallus from the mythical
Plaid Hermaphrodite. These two "heroes" are helped and hindered by the
machinations of both gods and monsters: from a beer swilling, wife-
beater wearing Zeus, to an extraordinarily polite tea and crumpets
serving Cyclops, to even the writers themselves. This is an
adventurous romp filled with raunchy humor that skewers everything
from pop culture to the classic myths themselves.

Directed by Derek Simmons.

Auditions will consist of cold reading from the script.

A fast paced, no budget thriller about a working man who attempts to murder his wife for infidelity. Soon, he is consumed with feelings of guilt and paranoia. Marvin then enters an emotional labyrinth of pain and frustration with only his weaknesses to guide him.

CATAWAMPUS is now in pre-production and is holding auditions. Catawampus will be made with the intention of playing at film festivals around the country and the goal of theatrical or straight to DVD distribution.

Production will begin on Catawampus in late September or early October and last 10 - 12 days. The film will be shot in Columbia, Missouri.

Auditions will be held in Columbia, MO.

Actors will NOT be paid for their work. No union members. Actors will receive free meals and copies of the film after post-production is completed.

(*) indicates that the actor will be required to perform a sex scene. This is not a dirty movie or an exploitation film. None of the sex will be graphic or "late night Cinemax-ish." The sex will be shot in a tasteful manner with only one actor on screen at a time.

Marvin: (30's) Caucation. Insecure, mild mannered working man who loses himself to his darker feelings. Character will be required to smoke in a few scenes. Will be required for the entire shoot. (*)

Emily: (30's) Latino. Very attractive but weak and insecure. The "anything for my man" type. Will be required for 3-4 days. (*)

MUSTARD SEED THEATRE will hold general auditions for a staged reading of Mother Teresa is Dead and a full production of The Good Times are Killing Me on July 25 from 7-10 and 26 from 1-4 in the Black Box Theatre at Fontbonne University.

Callbacks will be held on July 27 from 1-4 at the same location. Roles are available for Equity and non-Equity actors. Play descriptions and lists of available roles follow the audition information.

Auditions will be a maximum of three minutes. Actors may prepare any combination of the following:

* a contemporary monologue or contrasting monologues

* a song to be sung acapella - 1960's popular music or a church hymn preferred

Mother Teresa is Dead, by Helen Edmundson, is a thought-provoking drama that centers on Jane, an upper-class British woman who leaves her home, her husband and her son to fight for the rights of India's orphaned children.

This staged reading will be directed by Gary Barker and will play December 5-8, 2008, with shows at 7 pm on Friday, Saturday and Monday evenings and at 2 pm on Sunday. Rehearsals will begin November 30th. Equity actors will be contracted with a Letter of Agreement and Non-equity actors will receive a stipend of $75..

The Good Times Are Killing Me, by Lynda Barry, is set in a racially-divided 1962. Featuring music and song from the time period, this poignant yet funny drama explores the friendship between Edna who is white and her best friend Bonna who is black; 12 year-olds experiencing puberty, prejudice, rock music and the accelerating civil rights movement on the streets of an ever-changing, blue-collar, urban neighborhood.

This production will be directed by Deanna Jent and plays April 16-May 3, 2009. Rehearsals will begin March 23, 2009. Non-equity actors will receive a stipend of $300 and Equity actors will be contracted through a Special Appearance Tier 1 agreement.

The Good Times Are Killing Me needs a diverse ensemble cast who can play multiple ages.

Roles are available for 3-5 African-American men (one needs to be able to hold acapella harmonies) and 4-6 African-American women (2 need to be able to hold acapella harmonies).

There are an additional 4-6 roles for women and 3-4 roles for men (1 of whom needs to sing reasonably well). People of all racial backgrounds are encouraged to audition.

Seeking Male and Female Actors for THE LAST ROMANCE; BOEING, BOEING,
HATS!; DON'T DRESS FOR DINNER; and THE SOUND OF MUSIC. Please prepare
16 bars up-tempo Broadway musical song and 1 minute comedic monologue.
Bring music in your key; an accompanist will be provided. Bring
headshot and resume. Non-singers should prepare 2 minute comedic
