Storytelling must be rich in self-expression and theatrical imagination. Playwrights may live in any part of the country, and St. Louis-based playwrights are strongly encouraged to submit.
Plays featuring a cast of one to three characters will be accepted (plays with more than three characters will not be considered). Playwrights are welcome to submit solo performance pieces. Plays longer than 10 minutes will NOT be considered.
A pianist will be provided for musicals or plays that include music. However, plays that require a full band will not be accepted. Please note: All music must be original and not previously copyrighted by another party. The company is not liable for any copyright infringement.
Limited set, props and technical requirements are strongly preferred.
Playwrights please email: 1) a bio or resume (100 words or less); 2) entire play with original score if musical; 3) title page/synopsis; and 4) cast breakdowns to A Call to Conscience Artistic Director Fannie Lebby: fannie.c2c@gmail.com
Submissions will be accepted now until January 1, 2025.
Plays will be judged on the following criteria:
● Plot
● Character Development

● Clear social justice theme
● Overall writing quality & theatrically
● Can be produced within budgetary constraints
Kindly submit only one play; please choose your favorite. The play must not have had any productions or be published. Playwrights who submit will be informed of the results, regardless of the outcome, by February 1, 2025. There is no submission or participation fee. Playwrights will receive a $100 stipend if your play is accepted.
We look forward to the privilege of reading YOUR play soon!
