Black Mirror Theatre will be holding non-equity auditions for TRANSLATIONS by Brian Friel, directed by Tricia Duffin.
Auditions Saturday, Jan. 26, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.
Call backs Sunday, Jan. 27, 9:00 am – 3 pm as needed

Please bring a completed Audition form (BMT Audition Form) and a Recent Headshot and Resume.
NOTE: We are only beholden to talent. This story transcends the Irish/English narrative and we want to explore that idea.

Please have prepared a 1-1.5 minute dramatic monologue. You may be asked to execute a small piece of the play in an English accent and/or an Irish accent. Plan to arrive 15 minutes prior to your audition time. Auditions should take no more than 10 minutes.

Manus (M-30’s) – Hugh’s son – Teacher at the Hedge-school
Sarah (F-20’s) – Student at the Hedge-school, working through a speech defect
Jimmy Jack (M-60’s) – Town eccentric, well versed in Latin and Greek
Maire (F-20’s) – Student at Hedge-school, stongwilled, wants to immigrate to US
Doalty (M-20’s) – Student at Hedge-school, rapscallion with a touch of anarchy
Bridget (F-20’s) Student at Hedge-school, bit of a gossip and flirt
Hugh (M-50-60’s) – Headmaster of the Hedge-school, perpetually drunk, strict with his sons and students
Owen (M-30’s) – Hugh’s son – employed by the British to translate
Captain Lancey (M-40’s) – English officer, cartographist, stoic, lacking social skills
Lieutenant Yolland (M-20’s) – English officer, a bit awkward and friendly
