This production is mostly cast, with a group of wonderful performers. We still need our lead role filled.
Eugene V. Debs.
Founder of the Socialist Party of America, presidential candidate, and convict number 9653. Poetic, passionate, idealist. A talented public speaker, more poet than politician, with charisma and presence.
We are looking for a male who can play a character in their late 50s-mid 60s.
Race, ethnicity and cultural identity will not be a factor in casting.
Email firstname.lastname@example.org if interested. Auditions will take place late May-Early June.
Jailbird is a true story, about Eugene Debs’ 1920 presidential campaign from federal prison, in which he won a million votes. 100 years later, his revelations on our nation, our economic system, and the injustices of war are strikingly relevant.

The play was researched and written by Colin McLaughlin. The play will be directed by Kathryn Bentley.
