Cabaret Showcase Youth Theater

On behalf of Cabaret Showcaze studio and the staff of St. Louis Union Avenue Opera Company, Cabaret is offering a two day intenseFall Triple Threat Musical Theater Workshop on Friday October 19th and Saturday October 20th at the St. Louis Union Avenue Opera House in St. Louis, MO.
The clinicians will include Union Avenue Opera’s artistic director, Scott Schoonever and Broadway Dancer and choreographer, Ian Coulter Buford.
The workshop will be held over a 9 day time period where students will do 5 intense vocal rehearsals, 2 intense dance rehearsals and take that material prepared to the master class workshop October 19th (6pm to 10pm) and 20th (9am to 4pm).
The prep rehearsals will take place at SIUE Morris University Center University Hall Room ( 1 Hairpin Drive- Edwardsville, IL).

· Thur. Sept. 27th 6:30pm-9:30pm- Vocal Rehearsal and Staging
· Sat. Sept. 29th- 10am to 12:30pm- Vocal Rehearsal and Staging
· Thur. Oct. 11th- 6:30pm-9:30pm- Dance Master Class With Ian
· Friday Oct. 12th- 6:30pm-10:00pm- Dance Master Class with Ian
· Thur. Oct. 18th- 6:00pm- 10:00pm- Final Rehearsal.
On Friday October 19th, Scott will do a mock professional “Chorus Rehearsal” with students so they can get a feel for what it feels like to train for a professional show with an actual accompanist and will then work with them to break down song interpretation and acting, which will follow into the Saturday workshop day.
On Saturday October 20th at 3:00pm, the workshop will conclude with a performance from students in the Union Opera auditorium on their stage, which is a beautiful area to perform. Parents, family and friends are all invited to attend free of charge.
Material that will be selected to be presented during the workshop will be from newer and some unfamiliar musical theater shows:
Band’s Visit, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Bandstand the Musical, Great Comet of 1812, Parade, Sweeney Todd, On the Town, Chicago, Miss Saigon, A Gentlemen’s Guide to Love and Murder, Hamilton, Allegiance, Just So, Pippin, Bat Boy, Assassins, A Chorus Line, Sunday in the Park with George…musicals which will challenge the student’s performance skills.

In order for a student to be selected to be in the workshop, they must submit an audition video of them singing one full song from a musical of their choice. The video will be due by Sunday, August 26th and submissions should be sent to email@example.com.
