ACTING CLASSES FOR ADULTS WITH DAVID WASSILAK AT COCA

Fall 2018 Session

Classes taught by a working actor, open to both experienced and inexperienced students.

ADULT ACTING FOR THE CAMERA

Saturdays 11:00 – 11:55 am

September 8 – December 15 (15 Weeks)

Age: 18 and up

$260

In this class, students are introduced to the skills needed to professionally audition and perform in front of the camera. They learn basic terminology and technique, and gain practical experience by performing and reviewing commercials and scenes on film.

No previous experience required.

 

IMPROVISATION FOR ADULTS

Mondays 6:30 – 7:25 pm

September 10 – December 17 (15 Weeks)

Age: 18 and up

$260

Improvisation teaches poise, quick thinking and cooperation and develops the ability to create and communicate both physically and vocally. In this class, students participate in improvisational games and exercises to build confidence and communication skills.

No previous training required.

 

ACTING FOR ADULTS

Mondays 7:30 – 8:55 pm

September 10 – December 17 (15 Weeks)

Age: 18 and up

$280

In this class, students engage in acting exercises and scene work to help them increase their focus and active listening, discover physical action, and define acting objectives within the text. They develop vocal range and articulation while participating in ensemble and character development work. During the semester, students rehearse and perform two- and three-person scenes as well as monologues.

No previous training required.

David Wassilak is a St. Louis based actor, director and producer. He previously served as Associate Artistic Director as well as a co-founder of St. Louis Actors’ Studio, was a co-founder and producer for The Midnight Company, and was an Associate Artistic Director for Orthwein Theatre Company. David was chosen as 2013 Outstanding Supporting Actor by The St. Louis Theater Circle, Best Actor in the 2006 St. Louis 48 Hour Film Project, Riverfront Times Best Actor in 1999, earned numerous Judy Awards over the years from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and was nominated for two Kevin Kline Awards in 2007. He has directed at Solid Lines Productions, St. Louis Actors’ Studio, St. Louis Community College at Meramec, The Midnight Company and Orthwein Theatre Company.
