Contraband Theatre will hold general, non-Equity, in-person auditions on Saturday, May 10th at The Chapel Venue (6238 Alexander Dr, St. Louis, MO 63105) for the world premiere of Professor House, a new play written by Jacob Juntunen, directed by Sam Hayes, and produced by e.k. doolin.

Sides will be emailed to you after you fill out the audition form. Entire script available upon request. No need to prepare a monologue.
Resume and Headshot can be uploaded with Audition Form, (you do not need to bring hard copies to the audition).
Audition Time Slots are also available on the Audition Form. Contraband Theatre will follow up with your assigned time after you complete the audition form.
That weekend is Washington University’s graduation, so there may be traffic. Please plan to arrive early, if possible.
All acting positions are paid $500.00.
Rehearsals start the week of September 1st, 2025.
Rehearsals: Mondays – Thursdays, 6-10pm (no rehearsal on Labor Day)
Tech: Friday, October 3rd to Tuesday, October 7th, 2025.
Performances run October 8th – 25th, Wednesdays – Saturdays, 7:30pm.

Contraband Theatre is casting the following roles for Professor House:
PETER: (he/him) A professor near retirement (or wants to). A poet who writes elegies (or used to). A soul who is struggling to reason with a life that seems unreasonable. He is the husband of Lillian, the father of Rosamond, and the former, and failed, mentor of Tommi. Age range 40s – 60s.
TOMMI: (they/she) An extraordinary mathematician and computer scientist who invented some tech that changed the world, but that was before they died. In this play they are dead, and only Peter can see them. In life, they were Lillian’s grad student, Rosamond’s fiancée, and Peter’s protege. Age range 20s.
LILLIAN: (she/her) A professor and pure mathematician. She sees things in a straightforward way; with a clear and pragmatic point of view. Tommie was her grad student. Peter is her husband. Rosamond is her daughter. Age range 40s – 60s.
ROSAMOND: (she/her) A concert pianist, with a particular affinity for Chopin. She is a romantic, who finds love through her music. She is the daughter of Peter and Lillian, past fiancée of Tommi, and current partner of Louie. Age range 20s. *a bonus if the actor can play the piano.
LOUIE: (he/him) A patent lawyer, who is very successful thanks to the wealth gained from the posthumous patent on Tommi’s intellectual property. He is cheerful and annoyingly optimistic, and he truly loves his partner, Rosamond. Age range 20s/30s.
WILLA: (she/her) A poet with an ambition to be more than she was born into being. She is from Tommi’s past. Age range 20s.
