Hello,
We are in need of the following characters for our original musical “RICKETY!”.
Here is the plot to the musical.
PLOT:
“Musical theater “Rickety Hall” has been known for its many magical musical performances and Georgie has never missed one. In fact, she spends so much time in the theater loft that it’s almost become a second home to her. However, since the pandemic, nobody has visited and no shows have been produced. To top it all off, Rickety Hall is now starting to look pretty rickety and, since there is very little funding to fix it, is about to be sold by the city to the villainous Oscar Tadley, a musical-hating Brit who yearns for its destruction. But Georgie isn’t about to let her beloved theater go without a fight and decides to create her own musical with the help of her friends to raise the money to save it. Can Georgie and her friends raise enough money to save Rickety Hall? Will they be able to take on Mr. Tadley when he decides to play rough?
Filled with laughs, music, and even audience participation, “RICKETY!” is a love letter to any thespian or musical lover and will have you coming back to see it again and again!”
1. ANNA (14-21) (Soprano/Tenor)- Female
Anna is a sharp-witted young comedian who doesn’t really want to perform after bombing a major talent show with her comedy routine (especially when she tells…THE ROBOT JOKE). But when she sees how important the theater is to her best friend, she decides to stand against the opposition and help save Rickety Hall!
- Must be able to deliver a short monologue like a comedy routine
- Will need to learn 4 notes on an instrument
- Must be able to carry a tune as Anna does have a solo or two.
2. MAX (15-23) (Baritone w/strong belt)- Non-Binary
Max is a teen Elvis-dressing rocker who owns the stage with their presence and does not take life for granted. Max is that one theater kid who is a one-man show with their voice, charisma, and powerhouse stage presence, even self-titling themself “The King of Rizz”. However, they are far from egotistical as they don’t waste a moment in building up his friends, even helping tech girl Claire break out of her shell and help her become the performer she hides inside. They even perform two duets together.
Max needs to have a strong stage presence with a voice to match and should have no problem getting the crowd into their powerful songs.
- Guitar skills not recommended but a plus
- Will have to learn one chord on a toy accordion
3. ALBERT (18-36) (Baritone)- Male
Albert is a janitor that, even though he has grown up, never has lost touch with his artistic side and does all he can to help Georgie and her friends save their theatre. Albert is a brotherly figure and a good tap dancer.
- Must be open to learning a tap routine
- Dance experience not required but must be teachable
4. MR. BENDGLISTENER (Baritone)- Male
Mr. Bendglistener is Rickety Hall’s owner and represents the artist in all of us who has grown up but not quite ready to let go of that creativity inside. Bendglistener must be a decent singer for this role.
Rehearsals are Friday and Saturday from 6:00pm-8:30pm (blocking), and Sunday from 6:00pm-8:00pm (Song/Dance) (minus holidays). We are willing to work around anyone’s schedule as long as you do the work and contribute to the rest of the cast.
Tech Week: June 1-4
Show run: June 5-8
Location: Greenfinch Theater
The pay is $100 upfront plus final night’s earnings split between the cast and crew (it is a very small cast and crew and we are doing two showings that day)
