The St. Louis Shakespeare Festival is now accepting video auditions from equity and non-equity members for the 2025 TourCo production, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, written by William Shakespeare and directed by Tre’von Griffith.
VIRTUAL & IN-PERSON AUDITIONS
Virtual submissions open now. A first round of in-person auditions and callbacks for video submissions will be held on May 9. Check the Festival website for location updates.
Please note, housing is not included in the actor contract for the tour.
Rehearsals begins: July 22, 2025
Performances: August 19 – September 13 (Every evening, excluding Mondays) Some variations to the schedule will occur the week of September 9-13.
Actor Breakdown
Tre’von’s Afro-futurist inspired vision celebrate’s Black excellence and joy. TourCo is a completely free and outdoor production that brings 90-minute, family-friendly Shakespearean adaptations to public spaces across Missouri and Illinois.
Six actors will make up the TourCo company, playing multiple roles:
- Role 1 Black, any gender expression: Theseus, Oberon
Role 2 Black, any gender expression: Helena, Hippolyta, Peter Quince
Role 3 Black, any gender expression: Hermia, Tom Snout, Titania
Role 4 Black, any gender expression: Lysander, Francis Flute
Role 5 Black, any gender expression: Egeus, Snug, Robin/Puck
Role 6 Black, any gender expression: Demetrius, Nick Bottom
Audition Process:
To sign up for a time on May 9 (1 p.m. – 4 p.m.) or to submit your virtual audition email Allie Magee at allie@stlshakes.org.
Walk-ins will also be accepted on May 9 starting at 1 p.m.
- Please record yourself/prepare (1) a brief Shakespeare or other classical monologue and (2) a brief song sung acapella or played by personal accompaniment.
