Big theatre in a small space since 1911!
West End Players Guild will hold open auditions for the first three plays of its 2019-2020 season on Saturday, June 15, beginning at 1 p.m. in the theatre at the Union Avenue Christian Church, 733 Union Blvd. There is ample free parking at the back of the church. Auditioners should use the outdoor stairs to the basement entrance (it will be marked).
The plays to be cast are:
- Bill Cain’s Equivocation, directed by Tom Kopp. Equivocation is a Shakespearean tale of intrigue starring the Bard himself. A playwriting commission from the King leads to a perilous choice between the truth and the Crown. Can Shakespeare walk this tightrope without losing his head (literally)? Equivocation will be presented in seven performances Sept. 27-Oct. 6, 2019. Equivocation has roles for one adult woman, age range late teens-early 20s, and five adult men, age range 20s-40s. Auditions for Equivocation will consist of cold readings from sides.
- Vladimir Zelevinsky’s The Cricket on the Hearth, directed by Steve Callahan. West End Players Guild is proud to present the world premiere of Vladimir Zelevinsky’s The Cricket on the Hearth, a stage adaptation of the Charles Dickens story. It is a heartwarming holiday tale of unlikely and undying love, to be presented in seven performances December 6-15, 2019. The Cricket on the Hearth has roles for three adult woman, age range teens-20s, and five adult men, age range 30s-50. Auditions for The Cricket on the Hearth will consist of cold readings from sides.
- The Roommate by Jen Silverman, directed by Sean Belt. The Roommate will be presented in seven performances February 21-March 1, 2020. The Roommate has roles for two adult women, age range 50s-60s. Auditions for The Roommate will consist of cold readings from sides.
Auditioners should bring a resume and head shot for each director for whom they wish to read. More information on the shows – including plot and character synopses and downloadable audition sides — is posted at www.westendplayers.org/auditions. Audition appointments are not required.
West End Players Guild is a non-Equity professional company. All actors will be paid a stipend.
