Big theatre in a small space since 1911!
West End Players Guild will hold auditions for our upcoming 2021 season on July 24th at the Union Avenue Christian Church, 733 Union Blvd in the Central West End.
Four shows, with a separate audition session for each:
10 a.m. – Noon: Shirley Lauro’s A Piece of My Heart, directed by Dani Mann. A powerful story of six young women – five nurses and an entertrainer – who volunteered for Vietnam duty. Parts for six women (early 20’s) and one man.
11 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Steven Dietz’s Bloomsday, directed by Jessa Knust. A bittersweet story of love won and love lost in Dublin. Three of four roles already cast (this show was in rehearsal when the pandemic hit and we shut down), one role now open for a woman, early 20s.
1 p.m. – 3 p.m.: Martin McDonagh’s The Lonesome West, directed by Robert Ashton. A dark, dark comedy about two Irish brothers who live together in their late father’s house and can barely keep from killing each other over the most trivial and mundane things. (Yes, I said “comedy”.) Roles for one woman late teens, one man late 20’s-early 30’s and two men in their forties.
4 p.m. – 6 p.m.: Lucas Hnath’s Hillary and Clinton, directed by Tim Naegelin. In an alternate universe much like our own, in snowy New Hampshire, a woman named Hillary is trying to become president but it teetering on the brink of elimination from a race that really hasn’t even begun yet. And her husband, a former president, isn’t helping much. Is Hnath’s vision of what happened that night fact or fantasy? Who knows, but it’s smart and funny. Roles for two men in their forties, plus one woman and one man a little bit older.
