Auditions Saturday, August 24th, 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm.
Students ages 10–18 are invited to audition for COCA’s Improv Troupe.
Students will need to register for the audition and plan to attend the entire time to participate in group activities. Improv Troupe members practice long-form and short-form improvisation, sketch comedy, and activities that involve audience participation.
Improv Troupe students participate by auditioning in the company. They practice long-form and short-form improvisation, sketch comedy, and activities that involve audience participation—vital skills for every versatile actor, director, and writer. Improv Troupe is an entire school year (September–May) commitment, and each semester includes a public, ticketed performance at COCA. To audition for the Improv Troupe, students attend an improv workshop. Company dues are $475 per year, and sliding-scale tuition rates are available to qualified students cast in the company.
In addition to weekly Sunday rehearsals, students in Improv Troupe are required to enroll in three classes to augment their development as PPD theatre artists: an appropriate-level acting class, Setting the Stage or Directing and Dramaturgy, and one other elective of their choice. Their course levels will be given upon acceptance.
