Clayton Community Theatre is seeking two male actors, ages 18-25, to fulfill the roles of ROY SELRIDGE and DON CARNEY, in our upcoming production of Biloxi Blues, by Neil Simon, directed by Sam Hack. Sam Hack is a veteran director and recipient of the Arts for Life Lifetime Achievement Award.

First rehearsal: very early March.

Tech week begins: April 27.

Performances: May 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, 10, 11, and 12, 2019.

Synopsis: This well-known play, the second in Simon’s semi-autobiographical “Eugene trilogy,” centers on Eugene’s observations of the contest of wills between his drill sergeant and an intellectual recruit at a Biloxi, Mississippi, Army base in 1943. Along the way, he loses his innocence in many ways. It is both a reflection on prejudice and people’s reaction to prejudice, and also hilariously funny from beginning to end; and it is the winner of multiple Tony awards. CCT plans to present the entire trilogy over three seasons.

Roy Selridge (18-25) a recruit from Schenectady, New York. Selridge is a young man with an engaging, though often overbearing, sense of humor.

Donald Carney (18-25) a recruit from Montclair, New Jersey. Carney loves to sing—he sings in his sleep—and dreams of becoming a recording star. He is basically honest and good-natured but thoughtful to a fault.
