Metro Theater Company is seeking actors for our upcoming 51st season, including Maddi’s Fridge, Eddie and Vinnie, and A Year with Frog and Toad (TYA Version). MTC seeks adult actors of all genders, races, ethnicities, and abilities. MTC is a professional Theater for Young Audiences, and as such, may ask any and all employees to submit to a Criminal Background Check at the company’s expense. Submissions will be accepted through May 26, 2023.

Maddi’s Fridge

Best friends Sofia and Maddi live in the same neighborhood, go to the same school, and play in the same park. But when Sofia learns a secret about Maddi’s fridge, she’s faced with a difficult decision: to keep her promise or tell her parents about Maddi’s empty fridge. Based on the book by Lois Brandt, this heartwarming and hilarious play is a story about honesty, sensitivity and instilling important lessons in friendship, empathy and helping others!

Rehearsals: August 14th – September 1st, 2023
Technical Rehearsals: September 5th-7th
Performances (primarily during the school day, with select evening and weekend performances): September 8th- October 22nd
Pay Rate: Non-Equity, $400/week (rehearsals and performances up to 7 per week, for additional performances an additional $50 will be paid per performance)

Maddi: Sofia’s best friend, 4th grader
Sofia: Maddi’s best friend. 4th grader
Luis: Sofia’s little brother (The fourth character is Pepito, a loveable dog who will be a puppet operated by Sofia and Luis.)
Eddie and Vinnie

At its heart, Eddie & Vinnie is a buddy comedy about Eddie, a young boy with dyslexia, and his best friend/pet gecko, Vinnie. Eddie struggles with his schoolwork and faces the possibility of going to summer school if he can’t get his grades up. In a last-ditch effort to get on the honor roll, Eddie teams up with the overly helpful new girl in class to write their end of the year report. It seems like Vinnie is always there to distract him or, is he really challenging him to lean into his uniquely beautiful mind?

This three-time Tony nominated musical follows best friends Frog and Toad through four seasons of adventures from garden planting in spring, to flying a kite in summer, and sledding in winter. Through these adventures and the bumps along the way, the pair learns to embrace each other’s differences and grow in their friendship. The show features a “jazzy, upbeat score” full of humor and fun.
